The Gawreyn Poet

Beast Fables - Comic 32 - Thorn composes a poem about the dangers of knighthood (note: exaggeration heavily implied)

Medieval Moment: I’ve talked about anonymity before, but there really wasn’t a concerted effort by authors to claim their works until the later Middle Ages. We have some texts we are able to identify, but nearly all of the surviving Romances are anonymous. The author of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, Patience, and Cleanness (all collected in the Cotton Nero A.x. manuscript) is still unknown. We will probably never know the answer, and you know what? That’s just fine. It doesn’t make the work any less incredible.

Even though we still don’t know the identity of the author who wrote Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I have a suggestion I’d like to put forward.
